Inverness, Florida - Hear stories of early and present-day Inverness, as your guide shows you a small town rich with history, during the Inverness Downtown Walking Tour, which will be held on Wednesday, May 19, from 9:00-10:30 am (held monthly during most months of the year). Tour participants are asked to meet at the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum, located at 1 Courthouse Square, in Inverness.

Tour participants will experience the walkable downtown and its historic buildings, and learn about at least ten historic sites. The tour will include a complete tour, top to bottom, of the museum itself. Even locals will be surprised at what they learn! Complimentary light refreshments will be available.

All proceeds benefit the exhibition, programs, and operations of the Inverness Cultural Heritage Council at the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum.

Located in the heart of downtown Inverness, the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum offers three stimulating exhibitions on the first floor that explore 12,000 years of Citrus County and Florida history. Traveling and special temporary exhibits are scheduled throughout the year. The beautifully restored courtroom on the second floor is available to all visitors.

The museum is free and open to the public during museum hours. Staff office hours are available to assist with research requests, building rentals, and Citrus County Historical Society business.

Accessibility:
The building is ADA-compliant. The north entrance has an exterior lift for entry to the building and an interior elevator for visiting both floors

Directions and Parking:
The Old Courthouse Heritage Museum is the only building located directly on the town square. Free parking is available around the square with a 2-hour time limit or in the lot to the east of the building with no time restriction. There are handicap parking spaces available in both areas. 

COVID-19 Policies:
We ask that all visitors wear a mask, practice social distancing, and utilize the sanitation stations throughout the museum. Group tours and visits will be limited to 10 people or less. We suggest that visitors make an appointment (see above) for their visit so we can ensure there are no more than 10 people in the exhibit galleries at a time.
