The public asked for help to determine who shot a mare near Chiefland with birdshot, causing her to lose an eye

Chiefland, Florida - The Levy County Sheriff's Office is seeking the assistance of the public to solve an act of animal cruelly that resulted in a mare losing an eye, west of Chiefland, in the Manatee Farms neighborhood off County Road 320.
The Levy County Sheriff's Office Ag Unit assisted in this recent unsolved case of animal cruelty. The mare in the above photo was shot with birdshot and injured. The owner, who was unable to adequately care for the mare, requested assistance. The Ag Unit, along with Dr. Victoria Caccavone with the Horse Protection Association of Florida, and Ms. Liz took the mare for treatment. She is being boarded at a new location so that her recovery progress can be monitored.
No suspects have yet been identified. The Levy County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public’s assistance in solving this case.
