Bronson, Florida -  Thirty-four year-old Justin Stevenson of Bronson was arrested by the Levy County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, July 7, 2025, as the result of an argument that lead to the shooting of his business partner.

Shortly after 7:00 p.m. the same day, Levy County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a vacant property east of Bronson, and arrived at the location to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, whose name was not released, was immediately transported to a local emergency room for treatment of his life threatening injury.

According to a press release, Justin Stevenson and the victim were involved in a failing business venture that involved raising animals, and the two men had gotten into an argument when the victim learned that an animal had been sold without his consent. During the argument, Stevenson pulled a handgun out of his pocket and fired one shot at the victim, which struck the victim in his back as he fled for safety.

Stevenson told deputies that he fired the shot because he thought the victim was about to attack his pregnant fiancé, and he wanted to protect her. However, unbeknownst to Stevenson, the victim had recorded the entire incident on his phone, which debunked Stevenson’s statement that he shot the victim in defense of another person.

Stevenson was charged with attempted second degree murder with a firearm and is being held in the Levy County Detention Bureau with his bond set at none.
