Homosassa, Florida - On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) made an arrest in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred in Homosassa during the early morning hours of the same day.

About 3:00 a.m., deputies responded to a wooded area near Fishbowl Drive and Halls River Road, due to reports that an altercation had occurred there.

Deputies arrived at the location to find that a verbal dispute between two people had escalated into physical violence that resulted in one of the people receiving stab wounds. The victim was transported to a medical facility in Ocala, Florida, where the victim remained in stable condition, as of 4:48 p.m. The victim is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to CCSO spokesperson David M. DeCarlo, Executive Director of the agency's Office of Community Engagement & Transparency. 

Following an investigation by Detective Ramon Rivera of the CCSO Criminal Investigations Division, authorities identified the suspect as 25 year-old Jacob Earl Keefer, an acquaintance of the victim. Probable cause for Keefer's arrest was established, and a warrant for his arrest was issued on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. 

Keefer was located and arrested on the warrant. He's in custody at the Citrus County Detention Facility in Lecanto, Florida, with his bond set at no bond.

"This swift arrest is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our deputies and detectives," said Citrus County Sheriff David Vincent. "Thanks to their efforts, we were able to quickly apprehend the suspect and ensure the safety of our community."

Homosassa, Florida - On Tuesday morning, May 6, 2025, Citrus County Sheriff's Office detectives began an investigation into a disturbance that escalated into a stabbing in Homosassa, at a location near Fishbowl Drive and Halls River Road. The victim was transported for trauma care due to his injuries, and was reported to be in stable condition, during the late morning.

According to the CCSO, suspects have been identified, and there is no immediate threat to the general public. Additional details will be provided as they are made available by the officials investigating this case.
