Citrus County, Florida - Earlier on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Citrus County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a residence in Homosassa, Florida after a 9-1-1 call was received that reported a domestic disturbance. The caller informed communications officers that a man - later identified as 46 year-old John Kazmier Kaminski - and a female victim had been fighting in the yard. The caller reported he/she had witnessed Kaminski enter a vehicle, accelerate it, and intentionally strike the female victim with the vehicle.
Deputies and first responders with Citrus County Fire Rescue arrived at the location to find the female victim unconscious and struggling to breathe. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was airlifted to HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson, where she remains in critical condition, as of 5:22 pm, April 1.
Detectives with the agency's Criminal Investigations Division (CID) quickly responded to the location to begin an in-depth investigation into the incident. Kaminski was taken into custody and transported to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), where he was interviewed by CID detectives.
Based on witness statements and evidence collected from the scene, Kaminski was placed under arrest, charged with attempted murder. As of April 1 at 5:22 pm, he was being held at the Citrus County Detention Facility in Lecanto, Florida, with no bond.
"This is a deeply disturbing and senseless act of violence," said Citrus County Sheriff David Vincent. "We are committed to working relentlessly with the Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney's Office to ensure that Kaminski is held fully accountable for his actions. We are committed to seeking justice for the victim and ensuring that this individual faces the full weight of the law for this violent act."
