            Suspect arrested of March 28 shooting incident at Citrus County Fair

Citrus County, Florida - Early Tuesday morning, April 1, 2025, deputies with the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, along with a K9 Unit, responded to a residence located at 711 West Liberty Street in Citrus Hills, Florida, based on evidence indicating that 23 year-old Citrus County resident Derrius Deon Orr was staying there.

Orr was wanted in connection with a firearm incident that occurred shortly after midnight on Friday, March 28, 2025, along Airport Road in Inverness, Florida, and an warrant had been obtained for his arrest.

After deputies spent an extended period of time trying to persuade Orr to exit the residence, he eventually surrendered to deputies without incident.

Orr was charged with one count of discharging a firearm in public and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held at the Citrus County Detention Facility in Lecanto, Florida with no bond.

"I want to thank the community for their assistance in this investigation,  said Citrus County Sheriff Dave Vincent. "After Orr discharged a firearm several times, adjacent to the parking lot of the Citrus County Fair, fortunately causing no injuries or property damage, detectives worked diligently to gather witness statements and crucial information to build the case and make this arrest. Throughout this investigation, the safety of our community remained our top priority. I want to express how proud I am of everyone involved, for their dedication to obtaining answers and stopping Orr, who has a history of reckless behavior involving firearms, before he seriously injured anyone."

Warrant issued for suspect of March 28 firearm incident at Citrus County Fair

Citrus County Sheriff's Office (CCSO)

Inverness, Florida - Detectives with the Citrus County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) Criminal Investigations Division have obtained an arrest warrant for Derrius Deon Orr, 23, of Citrus County, Florida, on charges related to a firearm incident that occurred on Friday, March 28, 2025, along Airport Road in Inverness.

"Orr fired a handgun, several times, near the parking lot of the Citrus County Fair, which thankfully resulted in no injuries or property damage;" said CCSO Community Relations Specialist Madeline Scarborough, "Detectives tirelessly sought witnesses and key information to obtain this warrant."

"Our Criminal Investigations Division worked tirelessly to identify a suspect in this case, and despite having very little initial information, has obtained a warrant in less than twenty-four hours," said Citrus County Sheriff David Vincent. "This suspect has a history of reckless behavior involving firearms, and I hope, that with the community's help, we can apprehend him quickly. Great job by our detectives!"

When located, Orr will be charged with one count of discharging a firearm in public and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Information obtained during this investigation revealed that Orr may be staying in the Citrus Hills, Florida area with an unknown female. The sheriff's office is urging citizens to not approach Orr, and to contact authorities if they see him.
