Citrus County, Florida - On March 20, 2025, 40 year-old Steven Kyle Maddox of Beverly Hills, Florida was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) as the result of the agency's High-Tech Crimes Unit (HTCU) executing a search warrant at his residence.
Maddox was charged with three counts of possession of child pornography and one count transmission of child pornography. He was transported to the Citrus County Detention Center in Lecanto, Florida, where he is being held without bond.
The investigation began when the CCSO received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). With only preliminary information provided, HTCU Detective Ben Wilson began to research and gather information which identified Maddox as participating in the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This enabled Detective Wilson to secure a search warrant for Maddox's residence and an arrest warrant for Maddox.
"Maddox used his electronic devices to possess and transmit CSAM, leaving behind a trail of clues leading to his identity," said HTCU Sergeant Tiffany Barry. "Detective Wilson did an excellent job following that trail and building a strong case against Maddox. His dedication to pursuing these types of cases is exceptional."
The CCSO is continuing to monitor this case as it begins to progress through the judicial system. Further unspecified charges are pending, according to CCSO Community Relations Specialist Sydney Hudson.
