Bronson, Florida - Michael Allan Lakosky, a 32 year-old registered sex offender from Trenton, Florida, was arrested in Fanning Springs, Florida, March 14, 2025, as the result of a joint investigation by Levy County Sheriff’s Office detectives and probation officers with the Florida Department of Probation and Parole. He was charged with six counts of failing to register as a sex offender as required by law ($150,000 bond), and two counts of violation of probation (no bond). He was incarcerated at the Levy County Detention Bureau in Bronson.
Just one month earlier, on February 12, 2025, Laksoky had been arrested by the Levy County Sheriff's Office, charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to comply with sex offender registration law; he was released from custody, March 5, 2025, after being sentenced to probation.
Due to having previously being convicted of sexually based crimes as the result of an investigation and arrest in Dixie County, Florida, Lakosky had been designated as a sex offender by the State of Florida. As such, he is required to register all social media accounts, cell phone numbers, residential address and email addresses, etc., to the sheriff’s office in his area of residence. Probation officers noticed that phone numbers and email addresses provided to them by Lakosky did not match phone numbers and email addresses Lakosky had provided to the Sex Offender Registration Division at the Levy County Sheriff's Office.
Lakosky's investigation highlights the importance of the collaboration and ongoing vigilance required between local and state law enforcement agencies in tracking and apprehending individuals who violate the requirements of sex offender registration or pose a threat to the community.
