Fifty-two year-old Dean Nelson of Crystal River, Florida was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, March 10, 2025, charged with the murder of his wife, 47 year-old Christine Nelson, as a result of unlawful distribution of the illicit drug methamphetamine. Nelson is being held without bond at the Citrus County Detention Facility in Lecanto, Florida.
On January 27, 2025, deputies responded to a residence off North Rock Crusher Road in Crystal River where they found Christine Nelson, deceased. An investigation revealed that Christine's death was linked to the use of methamphetamine that had been provided to her by her husband, Dean Nelson.
Probable cause was gained and presented to the State Attorney's Office, Fifth Judicial Circuit, in Ocala, Florida. The investigation was further solidified by the Fifth District Medical Examiner's Office in Leesburg, Florida reporting that Christine Nelson's cause of death was acute methamphetamine toxicity.
"CCSO (Citrus County Sheriff's Office) is working closely with the State Attorney's Office of the Fifth Judicial Circuit to ensure a fair and just prosecution," said David M. DeCarlo, Executive Director, CCSO Office of Community Engagement and Transparency. "As this remains an active case, no further details will be released at this time."
