Homosassa traffic stop results in seizure of 66.5 gm fentanyl and drug trafficking arrest

Homosassa, Florida - During the night of March 4, 2025, Citrus County Sheriff's Office deputies made a drug trafficking arrest as the result of a traffic stop conducted on a white Ford Fusion car they observed making a traffic violation on West Yulee Drive in Old Homosassa.
Deputies Danner and Richardson spoke with the driver, Cornelius Salters, Jr. of Wildwood, Florida, who agreed to a search of the vehicle. Deputy Barr's K9 partner, Marino, made an alert to the presence of narcotics within the car.
During the search, deputies located numerous storage bags, hidden behind the car's steering column, that contained a white powdery substance. A field test on the white powder was positive for the presence of fentanyl. Approximately 66.5 grams of fentanyl was seized. With 2 milligrams of fentanyl being a deadly dose, the amount of the drug seized was enough to kill nearly
