Citrus County, Florida - On Thursday, March 21, 2024, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) Tactical Impact Unit concluded a narcotics investigation and executed a search warrant that resulted in the arrest of 29 year-old Connor James Vidair at his residence located at 9909 N. Cherry Lake Drive in Citrus Springs, Florida.
Detectives with the agency's Tactical Impact Unit (TIU) had received information that Vidair was involved in the distribution of large quantities of cocaine and cannabis, and as a result of an investigation, established probable cause to search his residence, and a search warrant was obtained.
Vidair was detained while detectives searched his residence.
In one of the bedrooms that had been converted into a makeshift lab to manufacture several forms of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) products - wax, oil extract, electronic vaping devices, and gummies - detecties found 4,908 grams (10.82 pounds) of THC extract. Vidair's THC products contained THC concentrations above 85% (THC products usually contain concentrations between 25% to 40%). THC is the main psychoactive ingredient of cannabis that gives the user the "high." Evidence indicated that Vidair was manufacturing THC products and repackaging them for sale, along with other substances located at the residence.
Detectives also found two large safes that contained 8,490 grams (18.72 pounds) of cannabis in several forms, 46 grams of cocaine, 801 grams (1.77 pounds) of psilocybin mushrooms, $5,742 in cash, a 0.380-caliber pistol, and a 12 gauge short-barreled shotgun. Vidair cannot legally possess a firearm in Florida as he is a convicted felon.
Vidair was charged with possession of cannabis with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance (THC extract) with intent to sell, possession of psilocybin mushrooms with intent to sell, trafficking more than 28 grams of cocaine, manufacturing a controlled substance, maintaining a residence for trafficking controlled substances, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a short-barreled shotgun
"Thanks to the efforts of the TIU, another drug dealer has been removed from our streets," said Citrus County Sheriff Mike Prendergast. "Many of these products find their way into the susceptible hands of children. Studies by the CDC have shown that these products can have detrimental effects on a child's development. Vidair was not only found to be involved with these crimes, but also had trafficking amounts of cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, and illegal firearms in his possession. We will continue to fight illicit drug activity in our community at every opportunity."
"Citrus County, if you SEE something, SAY something! Our non-emergency line is staffed 24/7 and can be reached at 352-249-2790," said Madeline Scarborough, CCSO Community Relations Specialist.
