UPDATED:  Michael Gabriel Hernandez, 42, of Williston and/or Bronson FL, was arrested by the Levy County Sheriff's Office (LCSO), Jan. 19, charged with driving while license suspended, first offense; three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted Florida felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted Florida felon, and resisting an officer without violence ($405,000 bond).
Due to frequent complaints of people recklessly driving ATVs (all-terrain vehicles) and dirt bikes behind the Bronson racetrack, two deputies were patrolling the area and spotted a person, later identified as Hernandez, driving a four-wheeler on NE 105 Avenue, closely following a car. As unregistered ATV’s and dirt bikes are not authorized for use on public roads or rights-of-ways within Levy County, the deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the four-wheeler. According to a LCSO press release, instead of stopping, Hernandez attempted to flee from the deputies, who pursued him. During the pursuit, Hernandez tossed a bag from the four-wheeler, ditched the four wheeler in the woods, and took off running. However, the deputies caught up to him and took him into custody.
According to the press release, Hernandez has been arrested eight times in Levy County since 2015; he's been convicted of "multiple" felonies, has a history of violence, and he's also a convicted sexual offender. The deputies located Hernandez's discarded bag - which contained three loaded guns with additional ammunition and drugs, according to the press release - although he was not charged with any drug charges at the time of his arrest.
