On Friday, January 12, 2024, the Levy County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with the United States Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, apprehended and arrested a man on a California warrant for attempted murder. He is being held at the Levy County Detention Bureau, with his bond set at $1,000,000

Aubrey Ethridge, 21, of San Bernardino, California, was located at a home in the Raleigh area of Levy County, near Williston, and taken into custody. Ethridge initially provided a false name to law enforcement, which resulted in an additional charge, fraud by providing a false name to law enforcement, with his bond set at none.

Ethridge will be extradited to California after the charges in Levy County are completed. Ethridge surrendered without resistance, possibly because he thought the law enforcement officers were at the home seeking another individual. He was also unaware that the false name he provided to the officers actually belongs to a person wanted in connection to crimes reported in Alachua County, Florida.
