Levy County, Florida - The Levy County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) has received word from several sources that a “pop up” block party is being planned for the East Williston, Florida area during the late night hours of Friday, December 22, 2023.
Deputies have reached out to community leaders and government officials, in an attempt to potentially dissuade organizers from bringing this activity back to Levy County. As of the morning of December 21, 2023, the location of the planned Block Party had not been announced on social media.
In the past, organizers have planned these parties, concealing their location to avoid detection by law enforcement. These gatherings often attract thousands of participants from throughout the state, who flood the area, bringing problems that have included street blockages, noise complaints, the open use of drugs, and violence.
In September 2020, six people were shot during the “All Gas” Block Party in East Williston; these crimes remain unsolved at this time. During a June 2023 “pop up” party in the town of Lake Butler, Florida, one person was shot, multiple businesses were closed, and various law enforcement agencies were called on to restore peace.
The LCSO will use all available resources, in the event of a pop-up party, adhering to the strict enforcement of the Levy County Noise Ordinance. The LCSO plans to keep the peace to ensure that everyone enjoys the Christmas Holiday.
Anyone who has information about any potential illegal activity is asked to contact the LCSO by phone at 352-486-5111 or CrimeStoppers at 1-877-349-8477.
We wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas!
