Inverness mas arrested following domestic violence incident where victim was shot

Citrus County, Florida - On Monday night, October 22, 2023, deputies with the Citrus County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence located on North Paul Dr. in Inverness, Florida, in response to a call reporting that multiple gunshots had been fired in the area.
The investigation revealed, that following a verbal dispute, Rudolph Holton, Jr., 49, of Inverness, had pulled out a handgun and fired three shots, one of which had injured the victim, who was transported to a medical facility for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The firearm involved in this case was located in a wooded area behind the residence where the incident had taken place.
Holton was taken into custody, charged with aggravated domestic battery with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held at the Citrus County Detention Facility in Lecanto, Florida, with his bond set at none.
"I am proud of the quick response of CCSO deputies that ensured this remained an isolated incident," said Citrus County Sheriff Mike Prendergast. "Domestic violence is a serious matter. Too often, domestic incidents are not reported until they become deadly. Our office works diligently alongside our community partners to help educate citizens on the signs to look for regarding domestic violence."
