Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Eggs

CDC, FDA, and public health officials in several states are investigating a multistate outbreak of Salmonella infections linked to eggs. If you have recalled eggs in your home or business, throw them out or return them to the store.

On August 27, 2025, Country Eggs, LLC recalled eggs.

  • Large brown cage free "sunshine yolks" or "omega-3 golden yolks" eggs
  • Distributed from Jun 16, 2025, through July 9, 2025, in California and Nevada
  • Eggs were packed in individual retail cartons bearing carton brand names:
    • Nagatoshi Produce
    • Misuho
    • Nijiya Markets
  • Code on Carton: CA 7695
  • Sell-by dates: July 1, 2025, through September 18, 2025
  • Sold to grocery stores and food service distributors
  • Eggs were also packed as large brown “sunshine yolks” or “omega-3 golden yolks” (1/15 DZ bulk) for foodservice with the same codes and sell by dates.

What you should do

  • Do not eat any recalled eggs. Throw them away or return them to where you bought them.
  • Wash items and surfaces that may have touched the recalled eggs using hot soapy water or a dishwasher.
  • Call your healthcare provider if you have any of these severe Salmonella symptoms:
    • Diarrhea and a fever higher than 102°F
    • Diarrhea for more than 3 days that is not improving
    • Bloody diarrhea
    • So much vomiting that you cannot keep liquids down
    • Signs of dehydration, such as not peeing much, dry mouth and throat, and feeling dizzy when standing up

Symptoms of Salmonella

  • Most people infected with Salmonella experience diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps.
    • Symptoms usually start 6 hours to 6 days after swallowing the bacteria.
    • Most people recover without treatment after 4 to 7 days.
  • Some people—especially children younger than 5, adults 65 and older, and people with weakened immune systems—may experience more severe illnesses that require medical treatment or hospitalization.

Country Eggs, LLC of Lucerne Valley, CA is recalling our LARGE BROWN CAGE FREE SUNSHINE YOLKS because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. in rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections ( ie.. infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The LARGE BROWN CAGE FREE SUNSHINE were distributed in California and Nevada. Product was delivered to grocery stores and food service distributors.

It has been reported that there have been 92 instances of illness and no reported deaths in connection with this problem.

The potential for contamination was noted after being brought to our attention by the FDA and other authorities that our product may contain the presence of Salmonella.

Production of the product has been suspended while FDA and the company continue their investigation as to the source of the problem.

This recall is being made with the knowledge of the US Food and Drug Administration.

Consumers who have purchased any of the affected retail brand cartons or in bulk from their foodservice distributors are urged to return them to the place you purchased them for a full refund or to safely dispose of them.
