SHELTERS
Hurricane Shelters are designed for safety purposes of last resort. Residents are urged to evacuate to locations of safety out of the way of the predicated storm path and well in advance of the storm's predicted landfall.
Hurricane Shelters will open at 4:00 pm today at the following locations:
• Bronson Middle/High School (GENERAL POPULATION SHELTER)
351 Ishie Avenue Bronson, Florida
This is a pet friendly location but proof of vaccinations administered 7 days prior to today will be required before the pet will be allowed entry into this location.
Unvaccinated animals will be sheltered at the Levy County Animal Control Center. A mandatory vaccination will be required for all unvaccinated animals at the time of sheltering for a fee of $10.00 (cash only).
• Bronson Elementary School (SPECIAL NEEDS SHELTER)
400 Ishie Avenue Bronson, Florida
EMERGENCY RESPONSE
Emergency Response will cease when conditions deteriorate making a response unsafe for first responders. This could come as soon as late Wednesday afternoon into the evening.
VOLUNTARY EVACUATION NOTICE
A voluntary evacuation notice has been issued for residents in mobile homes, residents in low lying areas prone to flooding and residents in RV’s.
ACCESS TO CEDAR KEY, FLORIDA
Access to or from the Island of Cedar Key via the Number 4 Bridge will not be obstructed. The Number 4 Bridge will NOT be closed. This bridge could be closed after the storm has passed and only upon the recommendation of the Florida Department of Transportation should the structural integrity of the bridge be compromised by Ian. Cedar Key will implement re-entry protocols after the storm has passed.
SCHOOLS
Levy County Schools will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (September 28, 28 and 30, 2022). All extracurricular sporting events have also been cancelled
