Brief lockdown at Seven Rivers Christian School in Lecanto, April 14, due to threats

Citrus County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) 

On Friday, April 14, 2023, Citrus County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) Patrol Units responded to Seven Rivers Christian School, located at 4221 W. Gulf to Lake Hwy. in Lecanto, Florida, to assist he agency's assigned School Safety Deputy, who was already on scene after a lockdown was issued due to threats made against the school. 

“The suspect was found at his home, and the situation was defused before it ever reached campus," said a spokesperson for the CCSO Community Relations Department in an email. "Deputies responded simultaneously to both the Seven Rivers Christian School and the suspect’s home address."

When deputies spoke with the suspect, it was determined there was no immediate threat at the school, and the lockdown was lifted wihin ten minutes of it being initiated.
 
Seven Rivers Christian School has contracted with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office to provide a School Safety Deputy on campus, at all times school is in session. 

"The Sheriff’s Office will diligently investigate any reported threats against our public and private schools until their veracity is determined," said CCSO Community Relations Specialist Madeline Scarfborough.
