Citrus County, Florida - Citrus County Utilities is offering a free irrigation and turf management 101 class on Thursday, October 12, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. The workshop will be held in the classroom of the Citrus County University of Florida (UF) Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) Extension Services, located at 3650 W. Sovereign Path in Lecanto, Florida and will also be broadcast, online, for those who would like to join the class remotely.
The training willl cover the basics of operating an irrigation system in Florida. Attendees will learn about local soils, how to operate the irrigation controller, how long to run the irrigation in each zone, how much water to apply during summer versus winter months, and the water needs of plants.
