Florida's Training and Certification Program for Alzheimer's disease:
essentiALZ Plus 


        If you work at a home health, hospice, adult day, nursing home or assisted living community in Florida, the Alzheimer's Association wants to thank you and offers you their person-centered dementia care training at no charge through the Florida Department of Elder Affairs' Alzheimer's Association's essentiALZ Training and Certification Program. This self-paced, online course meets the state mandated training requirement for assisted living level 1, home health, hospice, and nursing homes. 
        Learn how to apply current evidence-based, person-centered care practices when interacting with individuals who have dementia. The training features videos and interactive activities and includes access to the Alzheimer's Association's essentiALZ certification exam. Individuals who pass the exam are certified in the Alzheimer's Association's essentiALZ, valid for two years.
        Professionals who complete the training can claim three continuing nursing education credits or three continuing education credits for social work, physical therapy, psychology, occupational therapy and nutrition/dietitian. Nursing Home Administrators can claim 3.5 hours of continuing education.

FIND A SUPPORT GROUP

Support groups create a safe, confidential environment and a chance for participants to develop informal mutual support and social relationships.
