Now in its third year, the Latinos & Alzheimer’s Symposium will address updates to research and practice knowledge in order to better inform the care of Latino/Hispanic individuals living with dementia and their families.
Join us for opportunities to network, receive mentoring, and collaborate with researchers and health care professionals.*Addressing the Disparities in Dementia Risk, Early Detection and Care - Statistics suggest that the incidence of dementia is greater in Latinos and Hispanics compared to Whites. The prevention, diagnosis, and care provided to individuals with Alzheimer's and related dementias are greatly influenced by socioeconomic and cultural factors.
Through abstract and presentation topics that span from biomarkers to dementia care, symposium attendees will achieve the following learning objectives: Establish and leverage national and international collaborations to advance Alzheimer’s and related dementias research in Latinos and Hispanics. Describe the impact of acculturation, geographic context and bilingualism on Alzheimer’s and related dementias research in Latinos and Hispanics. Describe strategies to provide care and support the health of Latinos and Hispanics living with Alzheimer's and related dementias and their caregivers. Consider the challenges and opportunities associated with remote assessments. Discuss recent research on genomics, biomarkers, risk and protective factors for Alzheimer’s and related dementias in Latinos and Hispanics.
