Citrus County, Florida - At 4:27 pm on Wednesday, Febrruary 17, Citrus County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported house fire on S. Alligator Place in Floral City.

The Engine 23 crew from the Kensington Fire Station arrived first on scene at 4:42 pm to find a single-story residence with light smoke showing from the eaves. Ventilation was established at the doorway, and power was secured at the panel. The power company arrived on scene at 5:19 pm to secure power and remove the meter. The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene to investigate the fire. Crews cleared the scene at 9:15 pm.

Phone contact was made with the property owner who advised that she had purchased the home as a vacation rental property, and a contractor was currently working on the home.
