Firefighters extinguish blaze of hay barn and trees in Floral City

Citrus County, Florida - At 4:48 pm on Wednesday, January 20, Citrus County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a barn fire on E. Bushnell Rd. in Floral City.

The Engine 24 crew from the Floral City Fire Station arrived first on scene at 4:58 pm to find an approximately 30 foot by 60 foot hay barn fully involved in fire, along with several trees that were also on fire. Access had to be made down a narrow dirt road with
overgrown trees, so that additional firefighters with equipment who arrived on scene to assist with firefighting efforts were advised to not follow, and a water supply was established from the roadway. 

A defensive attack was initiated at 4:59 pm, the fire was called under control at 5:09 pm, and crews cleared the scene at 7:24 pm. No injuries were reported. 

Other personnel and fire station that assisted with the fire included Battalion Chief 1, Engine 8 from Highlands, Engine 23 from Kensington, Engine 5 from Hernando, Brush 24 from Floral City, and a Safety Captain.
