Homosassa, Florida - At 12:06 pm on Saturday, Dec. 26, Citrus County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a S. Lee Way, Homosassa residence due to the report of a garage fire. While firefighters were enroute to the residence, they received information that the fire from the detached garage was approaching the house.

The Engine 3 crew from the Homosassa Fire Station arrived first on scene at 12:11 pm to find an approximately 30 feet by 40 feet detached garage approximately 50% involved with fire that was approximately 5 feet from the double wide mobile home residence. Firefighters learned that all the occupants had safely exited the residence.

Crews began extinguishing the fire and provided protection to the residence so that the fire did not exend into the residence, and there was minimal damage to the siding.

The power company arrived on scene to secure power.  Due to the power being disconnected, the Red Cross was contacted to assist the 4 adults and 1 dog who lived at the home. No injuries were reported. The fire was called under control at 12:21 pm, and crews cleared the scene at 2:05 pm.

Other fire stations and personnel who assisted with the fire included Battalion Chief 2, Rescue 7 from Connell Heights, Engine 23 from Kensington, and a Safety Captain.
