Floral City residents receive minor injuries and displaced due to fire

Floral City, Florida - At 10:17 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020, Citrus County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a residence on E. Tower Trail in Floral City, due to the report of a fire at a Floral City residence where the residents had alrleady exited the home.
The Engine 24 crew from the Floral City Fire Station arrived first on scene at 10:23 pm to find an approximately 800 square foot, single story, single wide modular home 50% involved with fire. The crew made a quick offensive attack of the fire from the exterior, through the windows, and knocked down the fire. Searches of the residence were conducted to confirm that all occupants had already exited the structure.
Power to the structure was secured, and the front door was forced open to continue fire operations and bring the fire under control. Positive pressure ventilation was established at the front door due to the heavy smoke conditions. The fire was called under control at 10:31 pm, and crews cleared the scene at 12:35 am.
The occupants received minor injuries and were treated by Nature Coast EMS; there were no injuries to fire crews. The Red Cross responded to the home to provide for the needs of the occupants and their pets. The power company removed the meter from the residence.
Other fire stations and personnel that assisted with the fire included Battalion Chief 1, Squad 23 from Kensington, Engine 8 from Highlands, Engine 5 from Hernando, and Safety Captain and Tanker 7 from Connell Heights.
