Homosassa, Florida – At 5:34  a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025, Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR) responded to W. Richland Ln. in Homosassa due to reports of a vacant mobile home ablaze.

Firefighters arrived at the location to find a 1,300 square foot, double wide mobile home, with an attached addition, fully engulfed in flames

Crews immediately initiated a defensive fire attack using two handlines. Due to the distance from the nearest fire hydrant, water was supplied, and additional units assisted in water shuttle operations. Primary and secondary searches confirmed that no occupants were inside the structure.

Fire crews from multiple fire stations rotated through the fire suppression, ground operations, and overhaul. The last fire rescue unit cleared the scene at 9:42 a.m.

Power to the residence had previously been disconnected at the meter, and it was confirmed that the structure had been unoccupied for approximately five years. At the time of the fire, fire personnel were unable to make contact with the property owner.

With no apparent ignition source or cause of the fire, the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted to investigate the fire, and an office representative arrived at the scene to began the investigation.

The structure and its contents were deemed a total loss. No injuries were reported.
