W. Meadow St., Homosassa home sustains $42K in fire damages; no injuries reported; pets found safe

Homosassa, Florida – In the early morning hours of Monday, May 12, 2025, Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to a residence located on W. Meadow Street in Homosassa due to a reported fire. The call was dispatched at 12:34 a.m.

Fire rescue arrived at the location to find a single-story, wood-frame home fully engulfed in flames.

Due to the extent of the fire, a defensive attack was initiated. Firefighters deployed numerous hose lines to surround and extinguish the blaze. The water was supplied by five units.

Fire crews were informed that the residents' two dogs were inside a nearby camper, which was searched. The dogs were secured, and it was confirmed that there were no hazards in the camper.

Power to the home was secured by 12:56 a.m., and the fire was brought under control at 1:13 a.m. Mop-up and overhaul continued for several hours, with the last unit clearing the scene at 4:24 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

Victim advocate services were contacted to assist the residents.

Damages to the home were estimated at $42,000.
