Safety Message:
According to Citrus County Fire Rescue, cooking fires are one of the leading causes of home fires. The agency cautions residents to never leave oil or grease, or any other food being cooked, unattended on the stove, and avoid moving items that are burning; instead, turn off the burner, cover the pot with a lid - if safe to do so, and call 911. Even a small kitchen fire can result in costly damage and pose serious risks to your safety.
Working smoke alarms are critical in providing an early warning in the event of a fire. Be sure to test your smoke alarms monthly, replace the batteries at least once each year, and install alarms in every bedroom, outside sleeping areas, and on every level of your home. Smoke alarms save lives.
IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE, CALL 9-1-1.
