Homosassa, Florida – At 6:27 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2025, Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR) responded to S. Westmoreland Dr. in Homosassa due to a reported fire.

Firefighters arrived at the location to find a 30 feet-long recreational vehicle (RV) 75% involved in flames that were threatening a mobile home located just five feet away from the RV. Two handlines were used, and the fire was brought under control at 6:37 p.m.

The RV owner reported that someone may be inside the RV, but three searches of the RV turned up no one inside it. Fire command learned that the potentially missing occupant may have left on a bicycle, which was not found on the property. The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search of the area, but was unable to immediately locate the missing occupant.

The RV was deemed a total loss, but due to the quick actions of Citrus County Fire Rescue personnel, the mobile home sustained minimal damage. The cause of the fire remained undetermined after the initial investigation, but no signs of suspicious activity were found. No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.
