Crystal River, Florida – About 6:21 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025, Citrus County Fire Rescue and the Crystal River Fire Department were dispatched to a residence located on N. Fan Palm Pt. in Crystal River, near the city limit, due to a reported fire.
Fire units arrived on scene to find heavy smoke throughout the home and active fire that involved approximately 40% of the home. The fire was concentrated at the rear of the residence and the roofline on one side of the home. Overhead power lines were down at the rear corner of the home.
Entry into the home was forced, and a handline was used to the front of the home for an interior fire attack. Interior crews found the fire confined to an enclosed rear patio and the attic above the patio.
Searches turned up no one inside the home, which appeared to be vacant and undergoing renovations.
The fire was knocked down and mop-up was completed. Approximately 2,000 gallons of water were used to fully extinguish the fire. After the fire was knocked down, several units were released from the scene to assist with a second fire that was occurring in the city. The final unit cleared the scene at 9:43 p.m.
Duke Energy arrived on scene to secure the power at the pole and remove the electrical meter for safety.
The loss of the property and its contents was estimated at approximately $80,400.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office.
