Lecanto shed fire likely caused by propane tank; no injuries; see safety tips

Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR)

Lecanto, Florida – At 1:40 pm on Sunday, November 24, 2024, Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to a location of S. Salisbury Terrace in Lecanto, due to a report of a shed fire that involved a burning propane tank.

Firefighters arrived at the location of find a small shed that had already burned and an active propane tank fire. Water was applied to the fire, which was brought under control at 2:01 p.m. With no further hazards detected, the crew conducted overhaul operations to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and no hot spots remained. There was minimal impact on surrounding areas. The last unit cleared the scene at 2:14 pm.  

Damages were estimated at $5,000.
