Patio fire extinguished at Stixx Billiards, Homosassa, without damage to nearby businesses

Homosassa, Florida — At 6:19 am on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to Stixx Billiards, a commercial property located at 3171 S. Stonebrook Dr., off U.S. Highway 19 or S. Suncoast Blvd. in Homosassa, due to a reported fire.
First responders arrived at the location to find a patio on fire - a detached, covered patio, approximately 50 feet by 10 feet in size.
Fire suppression began immediately from the exterior of the structure. The quick response and teamwork of the units involved in the fire supression activities prevented the fire from spreading to additional structures in the Golden Eagle Plaza where the billiard hall is located.
The fire was brought under control at 6:31 am. After overhaul and mop up, the last unit cleared the scene at 7:13 am, and an investigation was initiated into the fire. During the investigation and a conversation with the manager of the business, it was discovered that the breaker tripped at the exterior breaker panel, but no further hazards were noted. Investigators were unable to determine the cause and origin of the fire, but it was believed to be accidental. Damages were estimated at $11,000. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters from the Connell Heights, Homosassa, and Sugarmill Woods fire stations arrived on scene, along with a rescue unit.
