Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR)

Crystal River, Florida - At 10:57 pm on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to residence on W. Beachview Dr. in Crystal River, due to numerous 9-1-1 callers reporting a fire and possibly hearing an explosion.  

Firefighters arrived on scene to find a two-story wood frame residence fully involved with fire. The flames were visible from approximately two to three miles away from the residence. A defensive attack was established. Water shuttle operations were conducted until the fire was brought under control. A nearby structure on the property was exposed to the fire, with the exterior smoking due to radiant heat, and firefighters protected it from the fire. The power company arrived on scene to secure the power. The fire was brought under control as of 11:52 pm, and after an extensive overhaul and mop up, the last unit cleared the scene at 3:36 am. The residence was a total loss. 

All occupants were accounted for and found to be unharmed. No injuries were reported. Firefighters requested assistance for the displaced residents.  
 
Firefighters from the Connell Heights, Homosassa, DeRosa, Sugarmill Woods, Hernando, Highlands, Citrus Springs, and Pine Ridge fire stations responded to the scene, along with a safety officer, rescue unit, and the Rehab Unit from the Citrus Springs Fire Station.
