Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR)
Citrus County, Florida - Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to a S. Pastel Point, Homosassa residence at 11:11 pm Saturday night, July 1, 2023, due to a reported fire.
The Engine 3 crew from the Homosassa Fire Station arrived first on scene to find the structure 75% involved with heavy fire. Battalion Chief 2 established command, conducted a 360 degree inspection of the property, and advised crews of a possible power line down on the side of the home. Incoming crews supplied water and continued suppression activities. By 11:24 pm, the fire was knocked down to approximately 25% of the home remaining on fire. At 11:41 pm, the fire was brought under control, and the last unit cleared the scene, early Sunday morning (July 2) at 3:45 am.
The residence was a total loss. The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters from the Connell Heights, Homosassa, Sugarmill Woods, Kensington, Hernando and Pine Ridge fire stations responded to the scene, along with a Safety Captain.
