Six residents displaced by fire at N. Ambrose Pt. in Crystal River, FL

Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR)

Crystal River, Florida - At 10:25 am on Thursday, April 20, 2023, Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to a residence located on N. Ambrose Pt. in Crystal River due to a reported structure fire. On arrival, first responders found a single wide mobile home approximately 50% involved with fire. Engine 9 from the DeRosa Fire Station arrived on scene within five minutes and initiated a transitional attack. Battalion Chief 2 arrived on scene, established command, conducted an assessment of the property, and secured the utilities. By that time, approximately 70% of the residence was affected by fire.  

Entry was made into the residence to extinguish interior fire, and a water supply was established. Fire personnel conducted searches of the residence, finding on one inside. All of the occupants had already evacuated themslves from the residence. One occupant sustained minor injuries when they attempted to reenter the home. Rescue 14 from the Citrus Springs Fire Station provided care for the injured resident, but the patient declined to be transported to a medical facility for further treatment.    

The fire was brought under control at 11:03 am, and the last unit cleared the scene at 12:43 pm. The residence and three vehicles parked at the front of the residence were a total loss. The American Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance to two adults and four children who were displaced by the fire. The scene was turned over to the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office.  

Firefighters from the Connell Heights, DeRosa, Citrus Springs, Kensington, Hernando, and Pine Ridge fire stations responded to the scene.
