Crystal River (Citrus County), Florida - At 5:04 pm on Wednesday afternoon, March 15, 2023, Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to N. Alge Ave. in Crystal River due to a report of a brush fire that threatened structures.

Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that multiple structures were in danger from the fire head, which was moving southwest toward the structures. Units from the Connell Heights Fire Station immediately provided protection for two structures on N. Alge Ave. that were being threatened by the fire.   Personnel from the Pine Ridge Fire Station assisted with providing protection to the structures and were successful at keeping the fire away from them.    

The fire was brought under control by 6:06 pm, and the last unit cleared the scene at 8:31 pm. The fire caused damage to 7.5 acres. The cause of the fire is unknown, and no injuries were reported. An extensive overhaul was conducted to secure the fire within the fire lines, 

Firefighters from the Homosassa, Connell Heights, Pine Ridge, DeRosa and Citrus Springs fire stations assisted with the fire, along with a Safety Captain, a chief officer, Crystal River Fire Department, and Florida Forest Service.
