Inverness home a total loss due to house fire; no injuries reported

Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR)
Inverness, Florida - At 8:35 pm on Friday, January 6, 2023, Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR) responded to a residential fire on N. Robin Hood Rd. in Inverness, due to a report of a fire.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find a single story residence fully involved with fire. They conducted a 360-degree inspection of the property, noted live power lines, and marked them for safety. A defensive attack was initiated. While fire suppression activities were being conducted, the three occupants all safely evacuated themselves from the home. They were evaluated by EMS crews on scene, with no injuries reported.
One of the occupants advised firefigters that he'd been sleeping and awakened to find smoke inside the residence. Another occupant stated that the fire had started in a bedroom, and they exited the structure. The third occupant arrived on scene during suppression activities, but no comments were docemented.
The fire was brought under control, as of 9:15 pm, and the last unit cleared the scene at 1:00 am, January 7. The home and its contents were determined a total loss. The American Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance to the displaced occupants. The power company arrived on scene to disconnect power. The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene to investigate the cause and origin of the fire.
