Dog rescued from Citrus Springs home with kitchen fire; no injuries reported

Citrus Springs, Florida - At 8:22 am on Thursday morning, June 23, 2022, Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR) responded to a N. Glenridge Circle, Citrus Springs, home due to the report of a fire

Firefighters arrived at the home to find smoke showing from the roof and front door. An offensive attack was established. The interior crew knocked down the fire, and searched the home for occupants. One small dog was found, hiding behind the couch in the living room. The dog was safely removed from the home, and oxygen was administered to the dog by fire rescue personnel. All the other occupants had previiousely evacuated themselves from the home.  

The power was secured at the breaker panel, and the power company secured the power by pulling the meter. The fire was deemed under control at 8:44 am, and the last unit cleared the scene at 12:19 pm. The fire was determined to be accidental, and appears to have started in the kitchen. The property owner advised firefighters that he'd used the microwave earlier in the morning. No injuries were reported.    
  
Firefighters from from the Pine Ridge, Connell Heights, Kensington, Citrus Springs and Hernando fire stations responded to the fire, along with a safety captain.
