Dunnellon, Florida - On Sunday morning, Jan. 30, at 5:53 am, Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to W. Woodlawn St. in Dunnellon, Florida to find a 1,500 square foot detached garage fully involved in flames, with flames also seen at the rear of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a boat located in front of the garage. Firefighters initiated a defensive attack.
The homeowners advised firefighters that there were no occupants inside the garage, and the only heat source inside the garage was a lamp that had been left next to a utility sink to keep the pipes from freezing. A tractor, lawn mower, boat motor, Chevrolet Equinox, and a johnboat sustained damage due to the fire. No injuries were reported.
The fire was under control at 6:12 am, and the last unit cleared the scene at 8:04 am. The power was secured at the residence.
Firefighters from the DeRosa, Citrus Springs, Hernando, Connell Heights and Pine Ridge fire stations assisted with the fire, along with a Safety Captain and the Rehab Unit from the Citrus Springs Fire Station.
