Two Hernando fires, same location within hours, under investigation

Hernando, Florida - On Sunday, January 2, 2022, at 7:08 pm, Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to a fire that was reported to a structure at a property located on E. Treeline Dr. in Hernando. Firefighters arrive on scene to find a 20 foot by 20 foot boathouse fully involved in fire. The fire was under control at 7:31 pm, and the last unit cleared the scene at 8:35 pm.

The following day, Monday, January 3, at 1:25 am, fire rescue once again responded to the same address on E. Treeline Dr. in Hernando, and firefighters arrived on scne to find a 910 square foot, single wide mobile home 25% involved with fire. Entry was made by was of the front door of the residence, which was not occupied. The fire was located in a front bedroom and extended out of a window. Contact was made with the homeowners, who advised fire rescue personnel that they had been cleaning out the house, and no one should be at the residence. The fire was under control at 2:05 am, and the last unit cleared the scene at 3:32 am. Hernando firefighters were called back to the scene at 5:05 am to extinguish a hot spot and cleared the scene at 6:09 am. No injuries were reported. 

The scene was turned over to the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida State Fire Marshal for investigation.
