UPDATE, NOV. 21, 2021: The victim found dead inside the RV was a 73 year-old man. His death was determined to be a suicide, due to acute carbon monoxide poisoning and thermal injuries from the fire, according to Lindsey Bayer, Director of Operations with the Districts 5 & 24 Medical Examiner Office in Leesburg, Florida. No information was available, as of Nov. 18, 2021, as to the origin and cause of the fire by the Florida State Fire Marshal's office.

Homosassa, Florida - One person died in a recreational vehicle fire on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Cedars Lake Mobile Home and RV Park, located at 6400 S. Mason Creek Rd. in Homosassa. The body of a resident was discovered after the fire was extinguished.
About 3:18 pm, Citrus County Fire Rescue arrived at the fire to find an approximately 30 feet long camper fully engullfed in flames. The last unit cleared the scene at 5:41 pm. The recreational vehicle where the fire originated and a nearby passenger vehicle were a total loss, and two neighboring recreational vehicles sustained damage from heat radiation.
The power company arrived on scene to secure the power. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death, and the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
Firefighters from the Connell Heights, Kensington, Sugarmill Woods and Homosassa fire stations responded to the fire, along with the Rehab Unit from the Citrus Springs Fire Station.
