Second Time in Seven Years

Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR)


Hernando, Florida - Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to the report of a fire, early Friday morning, about 12:15 am, at 505 E. Hartford St. in Hernando. Firefighters arrived on scene to find an approximately 10,000 square feet golf cart storage building at Citrus Hills Golf and Country Club engulfed in flames

The building was not occupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. Approximately 100 golf carts were destroyed in the blaze. This is the second time in seven years that this location has been destroyed by fire. The previous fire was on December 15, 2014. 

The fire was deemed under control at 1:25 am, and the last unit cleared the scene at 4:34 am. The monetary loss has not been determined at this time. The property did not have a fire sprinkler system. The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the scene to investigate the fire

Firefighters from the Connell Heights, Kensington, Citrus Springs, Pine Ridge, Hernando and Highlands fire stations assisted with the fire, along with a Safety Captain and the Rehab Unit from the Citrus Springs Fire Station.
