Inverness fire contained to garage, with no injuries reported

Inverness, Florida - The Inverness Fire Department was first on scene and Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR) arrived soon after, to a fire that was reported, about 8:45 pm, August 10, to a W. Highland Blvd., Inverness residence.

Firefighters immediately began actively extinguishing a garage fire that was contained to the garage area. All occupants had safely evacuated from the residence before firefighters arrived on scene.
The fire was deemed under control at 9:03 pm, and the last unit cleared the scene at 10:33 pm. The power to the residence was secured. No injuries were reported. 

The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the displaced occupants. Damages to the home were estimated at approximately $85,000. The Inverness Fire Department is investigating the fire.    

Firefighters from the Kensington, Hernando and Highlands fire stations also responded to the scene, along with a CCFR Safety Captain.
