Beverly Hills home 50% destroyed by fire, two animals rescued, no injuries

Beverly Hills, Citrus County, Florida - About 1:05 pm on Sunday afternoon, August 1, Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to a residence on S. Fillmore St. in Beverly Hills, due to the report of a fire.
 
Firefighters arrived on scene to find a single-story home with light smoke showing. No occupants were inside the home, but two pets were found inside the home and removed unharmed.

The fire was determined under control at 1:24 pm, and the last unit cleared the scene at 3:53 pm. The interior of the home was approximately 50% damaged, and the building remained intact. The power company secured the power, and the American Red Cross was contacted to assist the displaced occupants. The Florida State Fire Marshal was called to investigate the fire, which was contained to the living room area. According to a press release, the home had no working smoke alarms, and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters from Pine Ridge, Hernando, Citrus Springs, Kensington, and Connell Heights fire stations responded to the fire.
