One person injured, bird found deceased, at Homosassa mobile home fire

Homosassa, Florida - One person was injured and transported to a local hospital by Nature Coast EMS, as the result of a mobile home fire that occurred on Saturday, July 3, on S. Skylark Terrace in Homosassa. According to a press release, the person received minor injuries. The other two occupants and two dogs were evacuated from the home, without injuries, prior to the arrival of firefighters. However, a pet bird was found deceased in its cage.
Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to the fire at 7:24 a.m. The fire appears to have started in a corner bedroom. The fire was extinguished by 7:50 a.m., and crews cleared the scene at 9:40 a.m. The State Fire Marshal’s Office was advised of resident's injury. The power company arrived on scene to disconnect the power. The Red Cross was contacted to assist the three displaced adults and two dogs.
Firefighters and fire stations that responded to assist with the fire included Homosassa, Sugarmill Woods, Kensington, Connell Heights, Pine Ridge, Battalion Chief 2, the Fire Marshal, and the Rehab Unit.
