Three people, small dog dead after Inverness house fire under investigation; UPDATE: Victims identified

UPDATE - FIRE VICTIMS IDENTIFIED:  Jodi Sanders, Community Relations Specialist with the Citrus County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that the identities of the three victims of the fire are Marshall Kilpatrick, 84, Doris Kilpatrick, 79, and Barbara Sawyer, 64.

Citrus County, Florida - Citrus County Fire Rescue was dispatched to residence on Stowe Steet in Inverness, early Friday morning, April 16, at 4:46 am, with the report of a fire. 

A crew from the Inverness Fire Department arrived first on scene first, at 4:53 am, and other crews arrived shortly thereafter from the Floral City and Highlands fire stations, along with other equipment and personnel. Three people were removed from the residence and entrusted to the care of Nature Coast EMS, however all three succumbed to their injuries. A small canine was found deceased inside the home.       

The fire was called under control at 5:09 am, and crews cleared the scene at 2:57 pm. There was one minor injury reported by fire personnel. The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire 

Personnel and fire station assisting with the fire included Battalion Chief 1, Engine 24 and Brush 24 from Floral City, Engine 5 and Tanker 5 from Hernando, Rescue 7 from Connell Heights, Safety Captain 103, and the Rehab Unit from Citrus Springs.
