Smoke detector alerts occupant to fire at W. Baja Ct., Crystal River residence

Citrus County Fire Rescue
Citrus County, Florida - At 12:48 pm on Monday, April 5, Citrus County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire that was reported to a W. Baja Ct., Crystal River residence.
The Rescue 7 crew from the Connell Heights Fire Station and Chief 3 arrived first on scene at 1:00 pm to find a single wide mobile home with smoke and flames showing from the underside of the structure, which was approximately 10% involved with fire.
The home's occupant advised firefighters that no people or animals remained inside the home. When the fire was under control, firefighters made entry into the home to verify that it was unoccupied. Crews began ventilation and overhaul operations. The fire was called under control at 1:07 pm, and crews cleared the scene at 2:21 pm. The extent of the fire was estimated at 30%. No injuries were reported.
The occupant advised fire rescue that the interior smoke detector alerted him the the fire, and when he exited his home, he noticed smoke coming out from under the building, and he immediately called 911.
Other fire stations and personnel that assisted with the fire included Battalion Chief 2, Engine 9 from DeRosa, Engine 20 from Pine Ridge, and Safety Captain 101.
