Citrus County, Florida - At 11:26 am on Tuesday, March 9, Citrus County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire reported at a S. Lucille St., Beverly Hills residence. The caller advised that she believed she'd put out the fire, but the Engine 20 crew from the Pine Ridge Fire Station arrived at the residence, at 11:34 am, to find the fire active and extended into the attic of the approximately 1,200 square foot block home, with light smoke showing from the open garage door. The fire in the attic space was quickly extinguished.

The resident advised firefighters that there were no occupants, including pets, inside the home. She explained that she'd been sleeping in a bedroom when the smoke alarms alerted her, and she found the fire in the garage, which it seemed she'd extinguished.

The power was secured at the breaker, and the power company arrived to secure the power and remove the meter. Positive pressure ventilation was established to ventilate the residence. The fire was called under control at 11:40 am, and crews cleared the scene at 12:56 pm. No injuries were reported. The Red Cross was called to assist the adult and child who live at the residence.

Other fire stations and personnel that assisted with the fire included Battalion Chief 1, Engine 23 from Kensington, Engine 5 from Hernando, Engine 14 from Citrus Springs, Rescue 7 from Connell Heights and Fire Chief 4.
