No one injured, but 9 people and 3 dogs displaced by Crystal River mobile home fire

Citrus County Fire Rescue

Citrus County, Florida - At 4:59 pm on Saturday afternoon, March 6, Citrus County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a kitchen fire reported at a W. Cyrus St., Crystal River residence. The caller reported that no one was inside the residence, and the roof may have fallen-in.

Battalion Chief 2 and the Rescue 7 crew from the Connell Heights Fire Station arrived first on scene, at 5:05 pm, to find a single wide mobile home fully involved with fire, and two travel trailers near the residence another concern. The crew began a defensive attack to knock down the fire. Searches were conducted, once the fire was under control, and firefighters found the home unoccupied. 

Safety Captain 102 inspected the exterior and secured the power at the main breaker panel. The power company arrived on scene to secure the power and remove the meter. The fire was called under control at 5:21 pm, and crews cleared the scene at 6:51 pm. No injuries were reported. The Red Cross was called to assist the four adults, five children, and three dogs who were displaced. There was minor heat damage to a vehicle on the property, but no one was injured.
               
Other fire stations and personnel that assisted with the fire included the Engine 20 crew from Pine Ridge, the Engine 23 crew from Kensington, the Engine 3 crew from Homosassa, the Tanker 5 and Engine 5 crews from Hernando, and the Rehab Unit from Citrus Springs.
