Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) North Region

In southwest Florida, 80% of the water is supplied by aquifers, which are underground layers of rock and sand that hold water. The local area is within the Southwest Florida Water Management District's North Region, which includes Citrus, Levy, Marion, Hernando, Sumter and Lake counties. 

The North Region's aquifer level in percentiles, as of July 19, 2023, was 48%. The previous week was 49%, the same date last year was 68%, and the normal range is 25% to 75%.

The North Region's actual rainfall in inches for July 2023, as July 19, 2023, was 4.66 inches. The June historic average is 8.31 inches, and the July normal range is 6.79 inches to 9.29 inches. The 2023 year-to-date actual rainfall is 23.43 inches, the January - July historic average is 31.74 inches, and the January - July normal range is 27.94 - 35.59 inches. 

The North Region's average historic rainfall (in inches) since 2011 is 53.45 inches, within the normal range of 48.62 - 58.07 inches. • Northwest Florida Water Management District
        Bay, Calhoun, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Leon, Liberty, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Wakulla, Walton and Washington counties, as well as a portion of Jefferson county.

• Suwannee River Water Management District
        Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Madison, Suwannee, Taylor and Union counties, as well as portions of Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Jefferson, Levy and Putnam counties.

• St. Johns River Water Management District
        Brevard, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Indian River, Nassau, Seminole, St. Johns and Volusia counties, as well as portions of Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Lake, Marion, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola and Putnam counties.

• South Florida Water Management District
        Broward, Collier, Dade, Glades, Hendry, Lee, Martin, Monroe, Palm Beach and St. Lucie counties, as well as portions of Charlotte, Highlands, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola and Polk counties.
